We are excited to announce that Ben Quesnel, Alvarez Gallery artist and Clementina Arts Foundation member, has been granted the Artist Respond Grant from The Connecticut Office of the Arts (COA).

The Artist Respond Grant and the Artist Relief Program were two response programs to the COVID-19 pandemic and, according to Connecticut’s official state website, it’s purpose is to “provide funding to artists and teaching artists to support the creation and presentation of free and accessible on-line arts-based experiences, learning opportunities and services to audiences across Connecticut – and beyond – using the World Wide Web.”

Grants for individual artists and artistic collaborations range from $1,000$2,000. Through this funding opportunity, artists may create new works of art and share them with audiences digitally, live stream performances, present online professional development workshops for other artists and educators, develop and present online masterclasses in an art form, curate on-line exhibitions, and more.

With this grant, Ben Quesnel and his colleague Michael Manning will work on a community project called “The Developing Artist Program”, which will include a series of interviews to inspire future artists enrolled in secondary schools by exploring studio practices of emerging and established contemporary artists.
