YERWOOD CENTER BRINGS A CELEBRITY-DRIVEN EVENT TO STAMFORD, DEDICATED TO EMPOWERING WOMEN, CELEBRATING DIVERSITY, AND THROWING AN AMAZING BASH!
STAMFORD, CT – On Thursday, March 29, 2012, guests are invited to a two-part event at Saks Fifth Avenue Stamford to celebrate with The Yerwood Center, the next generation of after school programming. A free educational day for women, featuring acclaimed speakers, bestselling authors, and body-image rock stars, will begin at 10 AM, and an evening star-studded gala will begin at 6 PM.
During the day, power women such as best-selling author Ruma Bose, CEO of Fran Drescher’s Cancer Schmancer Laurie Meadoff, Dr. Judy Kuriansky, and Extraodinary Mom Kathy Eldon (called “the most inpiring person in the world” by Julia Roberts) will lead an education day filled with workshops and panel discussions geared at empowering women and mothers. Panel discussions include “Women Entrepreneurs: Yesterday’s Challenges Become Today’s Possibilities,” “Your Kids, Diversity, and Bullying,” and “The Beauty Problem.”
The Education Day is free and open to the public. In addition, 10% of all purchases at Saks that day are donated to the Yerwood Center.
For a complete schedule of the day program and biographies on its speakers, please contact Rebecca Hansen, Fernando Luis Alvarez Gallery, at email@example.com or 888-861-6791, ext. 6.
At 6pm, Yerwood is completely closing down Saks Fifth Avenue and transforming it for a magical evening event of Fashion, Art, Music, Dining, Silent Auction and Dancing!
An electrifying live art performance from contemporary artist Fernando Luis Alvarez will take place on the main floor of Saks at 7pm to kick-off the evening’s events. Featuring his trademark Lips, Alvarez will create a unique performance piece for the event, which includes a cast of the Connecticut Ballet’s dancers and actress Kelly LeBrock!
Following Alvarez’s live painting performance, Saks’ Designer Spring Collection Fashion Show will take place on the upper level, featuring hot new trends from top and emerging designers!
The unifying theme to this exclusive, private evening is a tribute to the legendary actor– and Stamford’s favorite citizen– Gene Wilder. The event is hosted by TV’s revolutionary Joe Franklin of Bloomberg Radio. Broadway star and acclaimed stage actress Jodi Stevens will serenade guests with a medley of her favorite songs. Special guest star, the beautiful Kelly LeBrock from The Woman In Red will walk the Red Carpet, and will honor and share memories around her dear friend, and former co-star, Wilder.
Also performing for the event’s attendees is a true “Who’s Who” of the Big Band Era musicians: Jerry Drake and his 16-piece Front Page Orchestra will provide the backdrop for event attendees to dance the night away. Guests should come hungry for celebrity caterer Marcia Selden’s menu of extraordinary edibles and specialty drinks!
